Bolivarian Republic
ve/noticias/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=43067 for the year 2007, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez Frias, and Cuba’s Vice President, Carlos Lage, sign, in the Miraflores Palace, a series of agreements including the area of iron and steel, telecommunications and agriculture. The information was supplied by the Minister of Popular power for the basic industry and mining of that time, Jose Khan. He stressed that the amount of investment in iron and steel industry amounted to 521 million bolivars and stainless to 600 billion bolivars.Venezuela imports large tons of stainless steel annually, the price of nickel from Cuba will be used by Venezuela and electricity which will give advantages over the stainless steel market, he said. Khanty reported that these signatures will allow Venezuela to create not only a steel production industry, but also will be developing, downstream, important industries in this area. It will also give a credit to improve railway networks in Cuba; and in our case we have two projects, one has to do with stainless steel, we are going to take advantage of the price of nickel from Cuba; and the other is a company project of ferro nickel to be used for stainless steel in Venezuela. It would be interesting to observe as Venezuela this developing its industry of stainless steel and what have been key achievements in this area, since still hard to access information of how these projects are being developed and in which phase they are. We can hardly observe them the benefits of this agreement of steel and this opens step to think that there are weaknesses the Government in the development of these conventions because the population is not informed as it should be. Responsibility of the Ministry of information and communication is the correct these deficiencies, an example of this would be through television and educational specialized programs on the status of projects in development..
